Testimonials
I learnt a lot about the REAL causes of poverty
I have attended the economics classes at the school.
I learnt a lot about the REAL causes of poverty, the production and distribution of wealth and the essential role of nature, human desires, land and natural resources (i.e. our planet) in the creation of wealth - factors totally ignored in my college economics courses.
SES has occupied the building since 2001.
The building itself is beautiful and well worth a visit - a former music college (Trinity College of Music) who occupied it from 1881 for over 100 years during which time they took over various neighbouring buildings which were united in 1922 with the addition of a Grecian portico, a first floor concert hall and the impressive staircase. (Especially look out for the beautiful carvings of musical instruments and musical themes almost hidden from view in wood panelled walls and on ceilings).
Maybe it's my personality, but I found the method of teaching with students actively participating in open discussions very helpful and
I thoroughly recommend it
have been a member of the School for many years and I feel part of a very large family with connections throughout the UK and many other parts of the world. Our discourses in group meetings are based on principle and reason and fellow students actually listen to and learn from each other rather than simply impose personal views. The study of the philosophy is concerned with discovering that which unites us all and helps us to find a great depth of wisdom, happiness and love within ourselves which affects how we live our daily lives. All who join the School have the opportunity of improving the quality of their lives and working for the benefit of society at large.
An outstanding organisation
An outstanding organisation, sincere and credible which genuinely seeks to find and acknowledge the unity in humanity. It is run on fine principle, proceeds through discourse rather than dogma and has recourse to an impeccable authority.
The essence of the study is in the philosophical realm and this inspires the other aspects of the school. In particular Economics, Sanskrit, Education, Art and Music. The classes are conducted with humility, generosity and openness. The school's leader is a man of integrity and decency.
It is a friendly place where every student is treated with respect.
Turned my life around
I have found the courses very useful in turning my life around from being rather purposeless, to having some understanding about the best way to approach every action. The practical nature of the classes stimulates enquiry and through this expands the way I look at the world and myself, which allows more happiness and freedom.
